Fulham is located just west of Chelsea which might give an indication of what sort of area it is. Chelsea is posh. Fulham is nice, but still affordable. Hammersmith is to the northwest, Earl's Court, Baron's Court and West Brompton to the north and Putney lies south across the river.
Gone are the days when the residents of Chelsea looked down their noses at their Fulham neighbours. The development of Fulham's long river frontage has given the area a distinctly Chelsea feel, attracting many similar types of people. Its central location close to the River Thames, large open spaces like Putney Heath and the abundance of good quality terraced housing ensures its desirability by London's wealthy middle classes - Fulham is now one of the city's more sought-after post codes as a place to live.
